Wyoming Life Flight
About Us
In the field of medicine, the phrase “golden hour” refers to the precious minutes that follow a life-threatening injury. This critical period can mean the difference between life and death. Among Wyoming’s rough terrain and vast expanses, beating time becomes an even greater challenge.
That’s why Wyoming Life Flight, Wyoming’s only emergency air transport service, plays such a vital role in the state’s emergency response system. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, our skilled and dedicated flight teams remain ready to take off at a moment’s notice. We provide rapid, professional emergency care to severely injured and critically ill patients and transport them to our base of operations, Wyoming Medical Center, or the closest most appropriate facility.
In addition, WMC’s Regional Referral Center often arranges for us to make inter-facility patient flights anywhere in the Western United States, regardless of origin and destination. Our membership program makes Life Flight affordable for Wyoming’s citizens, and we also offer emergency support services for the state’s many isolated communities.
Our Mission
The mission of the Life Flight team is to provide quality treatment and transport in a compassionate, timely manner and a professional environment. While safety remains our top priority, we also strive to respect our patients’ physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. On the ground, we are committed to community activism and education. Regular program reviews and improvement through service excellence help us continue to achieve these goals.
Aircraft
Life Flight is committed to safety and quality patient care. Our vendor, Air Methods, operates the helicopter and airplane for Wyoming Life Flight providing highly skilled pilots and mechanics to complete our mission. The aircraft used are well suited for Wyoming's altitude and weather conditions.
Service Area
Life Flight’s helicopter easily navigates Wyoming’s wide, open spaces and varied terrain. Our fixed-wing aircraft, however, allows us to fly beyond this area, transporting patients to and from not only regional locations such as Salt Lake City, Billings, Denver and Greeley, but even more distant destinations like San Francisco, Canada and Washington, D.C.
